Finding Joy

Tesse Akpeki says ” When I prioritise finding joy in what I do, success follows naturally. Creating balance, addressing a tendency towards workaholism, seeking meaning and purpose as I aim for excellence are important features as I flesh out my pathway to wellbeing.
A few years ago I came to the conclusion that I wish to enjoy what I do. Work hard, yes of course, but not at the expense of burning myself out. Exploration, discovery, learning and cooperation feature highly through my lens of what matters. I am ecstatic when the work I do makes a difference to my clients and the organisations I serve.”
BBC Radio London
As I spoke to BBC Radio London, I realised that my desire for play and lightness has been in my heart for years. I went to university at sixteen, did summer jobs and by the time I did my Masters in Law, I was working to get money to pay for my education. Achievement was so important, evidenced by the awards and accolades that accompanied winning.
Some Achievements

And there have been quite a few, Champion for Governance, Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and the Fellowship awarded by the Association for Coaches. In the earlier days, winning honours for achievement in my examinations from the Chartered Governance institute was affirming.
Positive Energy
Podcasting, TesseTalks, TesseLeads and the soon to be launched Future Focus are bringing positive energy into my life. I have the delight and pleasure of partnering with my friend and cohost Paula Okonneh. The guests are simply amazing, and I am humbled by how they share honestly and authentically.
Success
Today success is in the relationships I form, the people I encounter and the difference my work makes. So for me it’s onwards and upwards with my poetry, storytelling and comedy. And if that comes with laughter along the way, it’s all good.
